What is Fascia?

Fascia is a band or sheet of connective tissue that surrounds, supports, and separates muscles and other internal organs. It is made up primarily of collagen and is found throughout the body, providing structure and helping to transmit mechanical forces generated by muscle movements. Fascia plays a crucial role in maintaining the body's structural integrity, facilitating movement, and supporting overall function and flexibility. When fascia becomes dehydrated, it loses its flexibility and pliability. This can lead to a range of issues, including increased stiffness, reduced range of motion, and the formation of adhesions or "knots" in the tissue. Dehydrated fascia can restrict movement, cause discomfort or pain, and negatively impact overall physical performance. Proper hydration, along with regular movement and stretching, is essential to keep the fascia healthy and functional. My deep bodywork methods bring much needed hydration and blood flow to every layer of your fascia. Fascia runs deep and so does my work.
